Make Lift VT Part of Your New Year Resolution

By Marina I. Jokic

Adam and Andrea Booska have been lifting weights professionally since 2010. Passionate about the sport and already managing the family moving business, the two decided to open their own lifting gym. Familiar with the ins and outs of running a small business, the Booskas were skilled at customer service, advertising, logistics, and employee management. Their mutual passion for exercise coupled with a finely honed business acumen gave rise to Lift VT in 2016.

"We weren't looking for your typical, simple and sleek gym look; we had something different in mind," Adam Booska said. "We were looking for a warehouse with exposed steel beams, cement floors, ribbed metal walls full of inspiring graffiti quotes and murals, and that's exactly what we got."

Apart from offering instruction in free weights and strength training, Lift VT also serves as a kind of community for lifters. The tremendous physical transformation that members undergo is a shared experience that brings them closer together. Soon enough, strangers become exercise partners and some, even close friends. The free style workout area used for boxing, ninja warrior training, and CrossFit is particularly favorable to building relationships among people at Lift VT.

"This was never 'let's open a business solely for making a profit'; [rather, it was more like] 'let's open a gym that will allow us to do something we feel passionate about," Booska said. "Culture is our strongest quality, [and] I wish we could tell you how it happens; we have not felt it in other gyms the way we do [here]."

Indeed, there is a community feel at Lift VT that goes along with working out together, encouraging each other to reach your next goal, or just sharing the joy and satisfaction of achieving a particular milestone.

A popular workshop at Lift, the Saturday Morning Boot Camp exposes participants to a wide variety of lifting strategies, cardio, and strength training. The gym welcomes everyone, from complete novices to professional body builders, from teenagers to older folks. The gym floor features nearly every piece of workout equipment one could possibly want and every machine is impeccably kept with new additions cropping up frequently.

"Despite the rough [and] tough image we try to display, the truth is Lift VT is a family-run gym with a lot of love and so much to offer to [everyone]," Booska said. "If you were to visit, you would likely be greeted by one of our three daughters who all work with us at the gym: Victoria, Ella, and Brooke."

Whether you are looking for a casual workout in a friendly, social environment or an intensive regimen, Lift VT can provide that and more. Their juice bar's protein shakes are a perfect way to replenish your fluids and recharge while connecting with friends or making new acquaintances.
