Learn Yoga, Pilates, and Barre from the Best at Frog Lotus Yoga

By Marina I. Jokic

A spacious and bright studio, Frog Lotus Yoga is situated within the Beaver Mill complex, an old cotton mill which has been converted to more than 20 art studios. In business since 2002, Frog Lotus has made a name for itself among the local community. Its peaceful and inviting atmosphere is amplified by a visually stunning interior, expansive oak floor, high ceilings, and a plenitude of windows overlooking a lush hillside. The main studio features a unique mural painted by local artist and sculptor Maria Siskind, and the colorful reception area is adorned by Indian religious motifs.

Jennifer Yarro, director of the studio, wants her students to feel at home once they enter Frog Lotus. The waiting area offers many amenities such as plush couches, books and magazines, various teas, drinks, and snacks. There is also a shop selling yoga clothes, mats, and other equipment.

In addition to the main studio, there is a warm and airy room where healing arts are practices such as Thai yoga massage. The studio also serves as a gallery for a collection of statues of Indian Gods and hand-painted Tibetan thankas, large wall hangings.

"We are offering many different styles of yoga and Pilates," Yarro said. "The studio provides a warm and friendly environment where people interested in yoga and the healing arts can meet, network, and enjoy spending time together."

Recently marking its 15-year anniversary, Frog Lotus Yoga has become a staple name in the yoga community. The wide range of its classes, personalized instruction, and non-competitive environment make Frog Lotus a popular choice among yoga, Pilates, and Barre practitioners.

"The inspiration initially came from necessity; there was a demand for [an] idealistic space where high caliber yoga was being taught, and we wanted to supply the best environment to meet that demand," she said. "We want people to know that our classes are designed to present yoga so that it is safely practiced, sustains the practitioner so [he or she] can enjoy the practice throughout their whole lives, and does so intelligently."

Although Frog Lotus has come to be popular for training highly experienced yogis, it is also a suitable setting for absolute beginners. There are customizable classes for everyone, from dilettantes to seasoned yoga instructors. In addition to regular classes, the studio hosts trainings for yoga and Thai yoga massage which are frequented by local and international students.

"People fall in love with the space [since] it is magical, and the good vibes are palpable," Yarro said. Thanks to the dedicated work of her team of instructors, Frog Lotus Yoga has been helping people gain control of their physical and mental capabilities.
