It's Beauty Nirvana at PierVana of South Burlington

By Pamela Sosnowski

PierVana is more than a hair salon. Owner Jennifer Goslovich likes to refer to her South Burlington-based business as an "art studio where the medium happens to be hair." It's also a place to have makeup applied, receive an eyebrow waxing, and purchase handmade jewelry, designed by Goslovich herself.

"When I was looking for a space for PierVana I was clear in the fact that I did not want a typical hair salon," she explained. "We specialize in wigs, weddings and difficult hair, (and) we offer services in hair, make-up, facial waxing, brow and lash tinting."

Goslovich has always been artistic; she launched her career as a licensed cosmetologist at just 17 years old, then moved to Manhattan where she managed a Madison Avenue hair salon while training to become a hair stylist. After her children were born she moved to the slower paced state of Vermont, launching PierVana in 2012. Her venture is named after her children, son Pierce ("Pier") and daughter Savana ("Vana") and allows her to cover all of her creative passions under one roof.

PierVana's hair services include everything from a shampoo, cut, and blow dry to color correction and styles for weddings and other special occasions. Hair extensions, foiling, and color retouching is also available. The salon's team especially takes pride in hair makeovers and showing the before and after results on the business's website. For spa services, the PierVana team performs facial waxing, facial tinting, manicures, pedicures, and makeup application.

Goslovich started making and selling her own jewelry line in 2010 and currently sells a variety of handmade necklaces, earrings, and bracelets at her salon. It's a source of income that started purely by accident.

"I had a bag of jewelry that needed attention," she recalled. "I went into a bead store not knowing that I was soon to be off on a new adventure. The owner asked me if I had time to sit down and she would teach me how to fix a necklace. The rest is history." Goslovich's latest additions to her collection include a line of fresh water pearl and sterling silver pieces for the holidays.

PierVana is open Tuesdays through Saturdays with extended hours on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. With the 2017 wedding season now in the rearview mirror, Goslovich is looking ahead to 2018. In addition to being hired to write an on-going column called "Beauty Buzz" for VermontBrideMagazine, com, she will be hiring more staff members in order to expand the salon's offerings.

"'The elite wedding team' at PierVana consists of artists who genuinely love what we do," she stated. "We have make-up artist Kate Taylor and hair stylist Johanna Heise as well as stylists who do both hair and make-up such as myself. We are expanding our 2018 team to keep up with demand of destination weddings in Vermont and New York."

PierVana is located in the East O'Lake Building at 1233 Shelburne Road in South Burlington. To learn more about the salon's services or to make an appointment, visit
