Go With The Flow Helps You Find Your Flow

By Keith Donaldson

Located in Ludlow, Go With The Flow provides a relaxing yoga experience for anyone that comes through the front door. Owner Tish Galley answered some of our questions about her studio and its success.

What was the inspiration behind opening Go with the Flow? How long have you been open?

The inspiration behind opening the studio was an "if you build it they will come" dream. I had lived and worked in the Ludlow/Okemo area for ten winter seasons. While there was a definite local interest in yoga, there was no dedicated yoga studio close by, and I really wanted that not only for myself, but for the whole community. Some of the nearby ski resorts offered a few yoga classes at their health centers, but I feel that having a dedicated studio offers so much more. It allows an environment to be created that is geared directly toward cultivating a rewarding and focused practice, and one that feels welcoming and accessible to everyone, no matter their level or previous exposure to yoga. We have been open since mid December 2016.

How would you describe the atmosphere and culture the studio and classes offer to clients/students?

The atmosphere is laid back and fun, but at the same time structured, peaceful and restoring. I want everyone and anyone to feel welcome and at home at Go With the Flow. All the teachers are dedicated to the practice, but we all try not to take ourselves too seriously, because well, if you're not having fun, why do it? We offer a range of classes for all experience levels, but they all share the common goal of using movement, breath, meditation and relaxation to assist in healing the physical and mental traumas we all acquire throughout our lives.

I saw on your site that you have two upcoming events, one focused on mediation and another a masterclass for yoga. What other types of events do you try to offer to your students all year long?

We have done a series of evening Yin/Relaxation classes that are held for longer periods of time. For beginners, it may range from 45 seconds to two minutes; more advanced practitioners may stay in one asana for five minutes or more.) We also hosted a Beginner Yoga series and a Fall Retreat with both day and evening offerings of a variety of styles. We just had an amazing workshop that took the students through a guided Sound Journey and meditation, that included gongs, drums, singing bowls and so much more. We hope to continue to offer an ever expanding variety of workshops in the future, that appeal to people coming from a wide range of backgrounds and practices. We plan to continue to offer spring and fall retreat series, where we partner with local lodging providers for a multi-day retreat.

Why do you think someone should choose Go with the Flow for their yoga instruction or bodywork needs?

We love what we do. I feel that there is no better way to learn than to find a teacher who genuinely loves what they do and believes in what they teach. I feel called to use what I have learned to help others heal and benefit from a yoga practice, just as I have. I hope to help my students become comfortable with the essence of their true self through the practice of yoga, to take what they learn on the mat and apply it to their life off the mat, resulting in a more peaceful, healthy, balanced overall life experience. We also currently offer a full range of massage therapy including, but not limited to, Sports, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone, and Swedish.
