Find A Gem At Global Pathways Jewelry

By Keith Donaldson

After traveling the world Tim Pratt found a love for gems and jewels. He turned that love into Global Pathways Jewelry and began selling high-quality pieces to the people of Vermont. He took some time to answer our questions about his shop.

What was the inspiration behind opening Global Pathways Jewelry? How long have you been in business?

I opened Global Pathways in 1996. I became interested in jewelry, gemstones, and jewelry making through my world travels. I was drawn to the beautiful stones and different types of jewelry being created by artisans around the world. Global Pathways began featuring solely imported jewelry and mineral specimens. The future leap to hand fabricating jewelry was a natural progression for me. I had worked for years doing metal repair work on ski lifts for various local mountains. I translated my knowledge of large-scale metal work to jewelry making and have been doing it ever since. Over the years, I have hired incredibly talented artists that bring their own unique styles and designs to the jewelry featured at Global Pathways. We still buy and sell imported jewelry and mineral specimens from around the world, but our custom handmade jewelry has become what Global Pathways is known for.

How would you describe the style of your jewelry?

Our jewelry collection is extremely eclectic and is very artist driven. We have incredibly unique handmade pieces that you won't find anywhere else, we have very classic jewelry, we have vintage and estate jewelry; we truly have something for everyone! We love working with rough specimens and exotic materials, like fossils and meteorites, that you don't often see in traditional jewelry stores. We create a great deal of work with organic motifs such as pebbles, twigs, and leaves. We juxtapose our nature themed jewelry with collections of very simple, sleek, and elegant pieces. We are known for our work with rough and rose cut diamonds. We are always excited to expand our inventory with new and different pieces and we welcome new custom design requests that encourage us to try new designs and different methods of jewelry fabrication.

I read that you specialize in customized wedding and engagement pieces. What do you enjoy most about being able to play such an important role in someone's special day?

Custom engagement rings and wedding bands are our passion. It is an honor when a customer chooses one of our pieces to represent such an important part of their lives. We greatly enjoy working closely with clients to create their perfect one of a kind ring. We love incorporating unique and sentimental elements into engagement rings and wedding bands. We have made engagement rings with specific stones to match the eye colors of the couple and we have engraved wedding bands with scenes to commemorate where a couple first met. It is incredibly fun and meaningful for us to help make our customer's wedding jewelry so special and personal for them.

Your mountain range jewelry is beautiful and unique. How did you first come up with the idea to provide these pieces?

Our mountain range jewelry is one of our most popular styles. Custom mountain jewelry is a beautiful and lasting way for client's to express their love of Vermont or anywhere else they call home. While the majority of our mountain jewelry features the Green Mountains, we have created countless pieces with mountain ranges and scenery from around the world. Mountain jewelry is very special for our clients because it represents so much more to them than the depicted scenes, it represents important moments of their lives.
