Brilliant Massage Therapy Offers Innovative Relief and Relaxation

By Pamela Sosnowski

Brilliant Massage Therapy has only been in business for over a year, but the clinic has already been recognized by the locals as a 2017 finalist for a Seven Daisies "Best Place to Get a Massage" award. The Burlington-based business was founded by Lithuania-born Jolita Brilliant, whose earlier career as a professional bodybuilder eventually led her to a massage career.

"When I first moved to the U.S. from Lithuania over 10 years ago I was a piano player," she said. "But I decided to change careers into a health field. I went to nutrition school for two years; I also completed a personal trainers certificate. I became an endurance runner, then I became involved in bodybuilding and competed. Being around other athletes I learned about massage therapy. That's (what) I became interested in (as) a profession."

Brilliant opened Brilliant Massage Therapy in 2016 in one of Burlington's oldest buildings, Gideon House. The space is well illuminated and features a soothing ambiance, state-of-the-art heated massage table, and the most innovative massage tools. One of these is a pair of ceiling bars that Brilliant uses to steady herself as she works her magic dispensing a luxurious form of Japanese deep tissue massage called Ashiatsu, which literally translates to foot pressure. It was adapted for the U.S. about 20 years ago and as Brilliant explained, the therapy does not involve walking on a client's back.

"I chose to study this from of massage therapy because it is the most deep massage that a therapist could ever perform," she said. "Using this technique I am able to use my full body leverage, while I hold on to the bars above the table for stability. People who love deep massage especially love this technique; however, it doesn't mean it is painful or people who like light pressure can't receive it."

Ashiatsu uses the broad surface of the feet to massage tissue rather than the elbows, creating a more comfortable deep tissue massage experience. Brilliant also assures all clients interested in this service that the therapist's feet are always clean. Other services include deep tissue, Swedish, sports, hot stone, bamboo therapy, and other forms of massage therapy. No matter which service a client chooses, they receive their undivided attention from Brilliant, even before the session begins.

"My priority is always to make sure my clients are receiving the treatment that they came for to receive," she said. "We talk before every appointment and address the goals for the appointment. I value their time and feel honored that they chose me to help them with their pain and/or stress."

Brilliant is a graduate of the Body Soul Massage School among other massage institutions and holds 750 hours of clinical massage therapy training. She is regularly pursuing additional education in the latest massage therapy techniques to be able to provide innovative forms of massage to her clients.

Brilliant Massage Therapy is open Mondays through Saturdays by appointment only. Brilliant is so confident that clients will love her techniques that she offers first-time clients a 100% money-back guarantee if they're not satisfied with her service.
