Blossom Whole Food Kitchen Has Farm To Table Menus for Meals To Go, Catering And Pop Up Dinners

Vermont is practically synonymous with healthy, organic food. At Blossom Whole Food Kitchen, a small catering company with a part time luncheon space, the food is also delicious. The two are connected, says owner Tessa Holmes.

"The main thing we stress and try to hold to is whole foods," she said. "This means dishes and ingredients with little to no added anything. I believe food cooked and served this way tastes better, comes with less packaging, digests easier, is more nutritious and is better for the planet."

Blossom is located in downtown Winsooki , VT and serves the entire greater Burlington area. The event space seats 28 and is just large enough to host a party. Lunch is served three times a week.

"The space is a warm earthy place that has lots of plants and wood," Holmes said. "The main table is a long farm table that can seat at least 14 people and is perfect for family style meals or as a communal table for our Community Dinners that happen throughout the winter. We also hold many pop up dinners with different guest chefs."

Blossom has farm-to-table menus for catered events, meals to go and pop up dinners. It grew out of Holmes' love of cooking, and her considerable experience.

"I've been cooking for large groups of people for the past 20 years at different retreat centers, schools and camps," she said. "While I had been doing many personal chef gigs and catering events over the years I finally made it official 2 years ago by starting Blossom. It began in my home and I created a twice a week pick up called Meals to Go just to have a schedule and to get the word out."

While Holmes identifies vegetarian comfort whole food as her favorite, Blossom's meat dishes are pretty spectacular too. The menu features ethnically inspired comfort foods like Moroccan pumpkin and chickpea stew with spiced quinoa and coconut curry with chicken or tofu, butternut squash and shiitake with rice. The menu changes with the seasons and Blossom partners with local farms for the freshest produce.

"I am a vegetarian and prefer to cook whole food meals based around the season without animal products," Holmes said. "Our most popular catered meals are a buffet/bar spread that has a theme and can cover many different tastes and dietary needs, like a Taco Bar or a Mediterranean Buffet or a South East Asian Inspired Buffet. My favorite foods are eggplant, mushrooms and anything pickled."
